Project Antares by Heesen Yachts

Heesen Yachts is pleased to report that on May 14, 2017 the joining of the hull and superstructure of Project Antares, and the installation of her two MTU 8V4000 M63 engines, took place at the facility in Oss.
Project Antares is a 55m steel-hulled FDHF vessel that was sold just over four weeks ago to a very experienced American yachtsman. She will have some special features to carry out her role as mothership to the owner’s sport fishing fleet, such as the possibility to re-fuel and re-charge two sport fishing boats, allowing for several days out at sea.
Moreover, Project Antares boasts a major difference from her equally beautiful sister ships: an owner’s apartment that is 30 per cent larger, having been extended from 62 to 80 sqm.
Italian designers Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini are now working closely with the owner and his team to personalise the interior design of his new 740GT vessel.
“After the meeting with the client, with whom we immediately had good intellectual connection, we are working on the existing interior design to improve the owner’s 80-sqm apartment, the lobby and the sky lounge, to fully match his life style and taste.” Says Paszkowski. “We are going to propose some layout changes as well as new material and finishes. For the latter we are going to do detailed research into select materials that will add lavish luxury to the interiors. We are confident that the shipyard and their highly talented team from Heesen Yachts Interiors, will be able—once again—to perfectly craft what we have designed.”
Project Antares has now entered the outfitting phase and will be ready for delivery to her owners in November 2018.

Launch at Benetti shipyard

Benetti announced the launch of the M/Y Lady Lillian, the 37 meter motoryacht from the Classic range, with fibreglass hull and superstructure. The yacht was launched on May 18 at Benetti’s Viareggio shipyard with the workforce, Benetti management, the owner and his guests in attendance. Classic 121’ M/Y Lady Lillian will be delivered to the owner in July 2017.
The concept and exteriors of the Classic 121’ are by Stefano Righini, who has worked with Benetti on many occasions through the years, while designer François Zuretti, who has also contributed successfully to various projects by the shipyard, designed the interiors, giving the boat a modern and contemporary style. The layout features four VIP cabins on the Lower Deck plus the owner’s suite, accommodating up to 10 guests.
The owner’s full beam suite is in the bow on the main deck, while the exteriors are designed to offer guests the ultimate in relaxation, with comfortable seating in addition to a more formal outdoor dining area on the Upper Deck and a more informal one on the Sun Deck, which also features a hydromassage tub, a barbecue area and a bar.

GAME CHANGER VISITING LONDON

A rare sight on the Thames, DAMEN’s new 70-metre GAME CHANGER (227 ft) has spent three days in London to promote the Yacht Support range of vessels. Visitors enjoyed a full array of tenders, toys and a submersible, but GAME CHANGER also prompted many serious discussions about safe helicopter operations.
“GAME CHANGER made a big impression on the owners, captains, brokers and designers who joined us on board, particularly with its helicopter capability and all-weather protected hangar,” comments AMELS Commercial Director Rose Damen, who is also responsible for DAMEN’s yachting portfolio. “When it comes to superyacht helipad design and operation, many in the industry are re-examining accepted practice and rethinking the level of risk that we are asking owners to accept for their family and friends. GAME CHANGER really offers the ultimate yachting solution for professional helicopter operations.”
GAME CHANGER features a fully certified LY3 helideck suitable for charter/commercial use and based on DAMEN’s long experience building to stringent offshore regulations. GAME CHANGER’s owner can operate larger helicopters with 5-tonne maximum take-off weight and D14 rotor diameter. These long-range aircraft can land safely night and day in a wider weather window. Lowering the helicopter into the hangar protects it from the elements so it can be refuelled and made available for take-off without causing hassle, disruption and noise on the mother yacht. The hangar and refuelling systems – including Jet A-1 fuel tanks holding 10,000 litres – are built to high safety and fire-fighting standards.
In addition to the helicopter capability, visitors on board also appreciated GAME CHANGER’s purpose-built yachting features and quality finish, explains DAMEN Product Director Mark Vermeulen.
“This was a great opportunity to offer a closer look at the Yacht Support concept – which is still a relatively new phenomenon in the industry,” he notes. “A Yacht Support vessel is a massive leap forward in capability for the growing number of owners who want to do more with more equipment, more toys and more staff. Our vessels are perfectly equipped to support wide-ranging superyacht operations, but with a significantly lower Total Cost of Ownership than acquiring a larger yacht. Plus, owners get all the benefits of flexible operations and privacy. That’s why we call it the Smart Stretch.”
GAME CHANGER is the fourth Yacht Support vessel in the 70-metre segment following the delivery of INTREPID, ‘6711’ and GARÇON. With its Yacht Support range, DAMEN is now the established leader in this rapidly developing niche. In total 11 DAMEN Yacht Support vessels have been delivered or are in build. The Yacht Support range is based on DAMEN’s patented and proven SEA AXE range of offshore vessels – DAMEN has sold more than 200 of these vessels. GAME CHANGER is now returning to the AMELS yard in Vlissingen the Netherlands where it is available for immediate delivery.
“Being so close to London – Tower Bridge is just 150 miles from AMELS – makes visiting the city very easy,” Rose continues. “London is an important superyacht centre in its own right with a large number of clients as well as the brokerage community. We really noticed that when visitors came on board to judge the solution for themselves, they left very enthusiastic about all the possibilities that a Yacht Support vessel opens up. Last year we successfully exhibited a Yacht Support vessel in Fort Lauderdale and we hope to bring another vessel to Monaco later this year.” (Note from Editor: Read here the post about „Axis“, ex Fast & Furious. She was displayed in Monaco and Fort Lauderdale as mentioned above)

Benetti launched „Seasense“

Benetti is pleased to announce the launch of FB268 M/Y SEASENSE the 67 meter full custom superyacht with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure built for an experienced owner who has chosen the Benetti brand for the first time.
The launch ceremony took place in Benetti’s historic Livorno shipyard, perfectly on schedule according to the production plan, with shipyard workers, Benetti management, the owner’s representatives and the crew in attendance.
The elegant exterior lines of the M/Y SEASENSE are by the Dutch designer Cor D. Rover, designing its first Benetti vessel, while the naval architecture was developed by the shipyard’s technical office. The contemporary styling of the interiors, on the other hand, is the result of collaboration between the Benetti’s architects team and the design studio AREA from Los Angeles, making its debut in the world of superyachts. The layout includes six suites that can accommodate up to 12 guests.
The basic concept underpinning this Benetti superyacht is reflected in its name – SEASENSE – which has been translated into a design that revolves around the relationship with the surrounding environment. In fact, the owner wanted the outdoor areas to be as spacious as possible, to offer the maximum possible contact with the sea. In particular, the stern area of the main deck is given over to a big pool with a sun-lounging area connected to the peculiar main salon that, through the opening of big sliding doors, provides even more outdoor space for guests.
FB268 SEASENSE – fitted with 2 1380kW Caterpillar engines, it has a top speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. The range at a cost effective speed of 12 knots is 5,000 nautical miles.
Delivery is scheduled for the end of July 2017.
